Mano con Mano Health Reach

Feeding Center for Yalu
Many of you may remember that in February of this year, Mr. Jones’ 9th grade class painted the school in Yalu. Yalu is one of the three villages served by a medical clinic run by Hands of Hope, where Susan works as a volunteer Nurse Practitioner. Since the painting of that school in February, there have been a series of things that have opened doors to the hearts and lives of the villagers. A vision clinic run by Del Rey Hills Church came to examine all the children in the Yalu school. Several villagers had serious illness that we were able to treat or refer for care. As a result of hard work, and God’s healing touch in the lives of families, many people have accepted the Lord in the last six months. However, there is no church for these new believers to attend. Therefore, we hope to buy a piece of land, build a multipurpose building that can be used during the week as a feeding center and children’s bible club, and provide prenatal care for the women of Yalu. On weekends it can be a place of worship, center for education and healthy entertainment.
A prayer partner in Kentucky is helping to raise funds for the building, land and feeding center. To make this a reality, we need an additional $15,000 and sponsors for food for the children. Would you like to sponsor a child to receive nutritious lunches several times/week? Would your church like to adopt a group of kids? Would you like to give a one time gift for construction or to buy plates, cups, tables and chairs? A feeding center will be a place where children will receive the love of God and training in health and values as part of their nutrition each week.

Sept 25-Oct 2, 2004: Seattle Christian School Fall team to Mazatlan
Carolyn and Larry Watson are leading a team that includes Lisa Curran and Brian Nelson, MCM board members. This is the 12th Fall team to Mazatlan sponsored by SCS. After many years of working together, SCS/MCM and the Iglesia Cristiana Congregacional have developed a strong ministry partnership. The team will provide dental and vision care for hundreds of patients in the downtown Mazatlan church.
New Board of Directors
We would like to thank Donna Davis for five years of faithful service on the board of directors, helping to provide leadership and insight as MCM’s ministry developed. She completed her term and is now concentrating on short term mission trips, her family and career. Thank you Donna, for all your hard work. Sharon Im-Lee and Johann Yi, from Seattle Community Church, bring their missions, business and dentistry skills to join Lisa Curran, Brian Nelson, William and Susan Jones continue to serve on the board of directors.

Too many patients to fit in the cab, so plastic bags provide rain protection on the way to Guatemala City in the pickup
