As many of you know, Pastor Jose was planning to attend seminary in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in August 2002 for a year of intense study. Unfortunately, housing was not found in a timely manner and the family was unable to relocate to Merida before the start of classes this year. Jose made the difficult decision to remain in Mazatlan and continue his ministry in Villas del Sol for another year. Susana and Waldo have resumed classes in Mazatlan and Nallely is hoping to begin studies in psychology this year. Jose hopes to find theology courses by extension that he can work on while he waits for the possibility of entering seminary in the fall of 2003. Several families gave generously for Jose’s education. We hope to redirect some of these funds towards distance learning programs for Jose this year.
The church in Villas del Sol continues to grow in numbers and spiritual maturity. Thanks to the work of a church group from the U.S., the church now has an athletic field for hosting youth activities. Jose is using material from The Purpose Driven Church to plan ministry for the upcoming year. We plan to visit with the family during the upcoming mission trip with Seattle Christian Schools to Mazatlan.
Thank you for your prayers, love, concern and gifts for this family. They especially need our prayers as they settle back into life in Mazatlan after being ready for such a major move. It is a time of evaluating their goals and seeking the Lord’s guidance.
Dr. Brian Nelson, ophthalmologist, board member and short term missionary generously donated his time and talent to develop the Mano con Mano website. You can view newsletters with color photos, write to us online and learn more about past and future ministry. Visit us at www.Manoconmano.org.
Quinn Lee and Johann Yi have produced a wonderful 6 minute video about Mano con Mano's clinic ministry. If you would like a copy to show at your church or prospective team members, please contact us by email, or using the enclosed form. The video is free of charge, but a $5 donation for postage costs would be helpful.
